The Chicago Blackhawks have a lot to deal with over the next couple of days. We are a week before the NHL’s trade deadline and one of the biggest stories is the future of Patrick Kane. Of course, Kane is one of the league’s all-time greatest players so this is a big deal.

On Thursday, the New York Rangers made some decisions that made it seem like they were going to make a big move soon. There is speculation that they are in on Patrick Kane who clearly wants to play for them if the Blackhawks are going to trade him.

On Friday, Patrick Kane was held out of practice. The Blackhawks reported it as a maintenance day and coach Luke Richardson claims that he has some soreness. However, we all know that they are being very careful with him because of the possible trade that could be coming.

This is noteworthy news. He probably is a bit sore and could use a maintenance day but this is obviously a move that the team is making in case of a trade. If Kane were to get hurt during the practice, then a trade would not be able to happen.

The Chicago Blackhawks didn’t have Patrick Kane at practice on Friday.

The Blackhawks are on a road swing right now. Their next game is on Saturday night against the San Jose Sharks in California. If Patrick Kane is still with the club by then, it will be interesting to see if Kane suits up for that game. Honestly, keeping him out would be the smart move.

Nine hours before that in a Saturday matinee match, the New York Rangers will be playing against the Washington Capitals. In the same breath, it will be interesting to see what types of decisions they make ahead of that game. New York had an optional practice on Friday.

This is a lot of emotions going around Blackhawks’ land right now and rightfully so. Seeing Kane leave the Blackhawks is going to be tough but there is a great chance that it will lead to great things. There is a kid playing for the Regina Pats right now that would love to come to Chicago.
