Two weeks into the season, and the sky is falling for many Chicago Bears fans. Just a week ago, the fan base was celebrating a gritty, hard-fought comeback in a Week 1 monsoon.

The victory over San Francisco provided hope, even though you couldn’t take much away from the game due to the weather. It was a win — and that’s it. Moving forward, the hope was to be able to see this offense take a step against Green Bay.

However, the Packers held Justin Fields and the offense in check, giving up just 10 points to these Bears. The Bears scored more points in a downpour than they did in a game that featured just a little mild rain.

Now, they head into Week 3 with a record of 1-1 and take on the 0-1-1 Houston Texans. If ever there was an early get-right game, it was this coming opportunity for Fields and the offense.

Going up against a winless Houston Texans team is a big opportunity for several key Chicago Bears.

Let’s not forget about the defense, here, though. Roquan Smith and Kyler Gordon may have been the worst two players on the field this past Sunday night. Chicago’s defense has to shape up and play a lot better, especially considering they’re going up against a Texans offense without much in terms of playmakers.

But, the focus in Chicago is undoubtedly the offense. It will all be on Luke Getsy’s group to improve and put points on the board. If the Bears cannot put points on the board against this Texans team, then there will be reason for major worry.

Specifically, the Bears have to get a great performance out of three key players. No, it doesn’t include anyone in the running back room. David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert were great on Sunday night with the touches they received. It goes beyond the run game. This has to be a game we see the passing attack take flight, and it all starts with QB1.
