The Major League Baseball trade deadline is fast approaching and the Chicago Cubs are expected to be amongst the busiest sellers in the league. They are a bad team with a lot of assets to sell.

There are some teams out there that could use as much help as they can as they prepare to head down the stretch and into the playoffs.

On Wednesday night, we saw the Kansas City Royals trade Andrew Benintendi to the New York Yankees for three prospects. That might have set the tone for what is to come.

There is more than one good player that is expected to be sent away from the Cubs and it won’t be fun to see any of them go. These are the three Cubs to expect to say goodbye to before next week’s deadline:

C. Chicago Cubs. Willson Contreras. 40. player. 9.

Willson Contreras has been an amazing player for the Chicago Cubs since 2016.

The Chicago Cubs are about to trade Willson Contreras. It is one of the worst kept secrets in baseball and it has been obvious for over a year. They weren’t fair to him as they never seemed to have legit conversations with him but now it is too late.

There are a lot of teams that make sense for Contreras. He was an All-Star in 2022 and in the National League starting lineup as the catcher. Any team without a star catcher would love to add this guy as he can be a gamechanger in every way.

This is an emotional time for Willson. He clearly wanted to be with the Chicago Cubs for life but that is not going to happen. He will quickly realize that playing for a winning team again is better than whatever it is the Cubs are doing.
