The Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 4-2. It was their sixth win of the row which is just a magnificent way to begin the second half of the season. Unfortunately, they are still only 40-57 and 13.0 games out of first place.

As a result of their record, they are going to be sellers at the 2022 MLB Trade Deadline. They are probably going to trade big names like Willson Contreras and Ian Happ so that they can get assets for the future.

Of course, Happ has become a fan favorite and a really good baseball player. He was an All-Star in 2022 because of his incredible performances in the first half. Unfortunately, his time with the team is close to being done.

As popular as Happ has become, Willson Contreras was a big part of the core that won the World Series in 2016. He has also been one of the best catchers in the league during his time with the Chicago Cubs. This is one of those amazing players that fans will remember forever.

Willson Contreras and Ian Happ are probably done with the Chicago Cubs.

Both Contreras and Happ have likely played their last game at Wrigley Field in a Cubs jersey as Tuesday’s win was the last game there before the trade deadline. They are now headed to California to take on the San Francisco Giants for a series.

This was a tough day for the Cubs as it was obviously weighing on these two guys. Just a week after being the only two Cubs representatives in the All-Star Game, they are on the trade block. There are certainly going to be a lot of teams looking at both before August 2nd.

After the game was over, the two of them were the last Cubs players in the dugout. They came together for an emotional hug and it was caught on camera. These two clearly loved being Cubs players and will be remembered forever.

For Willson Contreras, he has seen it all with this team. They have been elite, good, mediocre, bad, and awful during his tenure. The only constant has been that he was there playing at a very high level no matter what.

The good news is that we will be able to see them play for good teams really soon. It is highly likely that they will play for teams that go to the 2022 MLB Postseason. It is a shame that they have to go because of bad decision-making by the Cubs but that is business. Their last game as Cubs players at Wrigley Field will always be a win.
