3 dark horse Pro Bowl candidates for the Chicago Bears in 2022
By Josh De Luca
Bears tight end Cole Kmet has yet to officially breakout, but this season could be the best of his young career.
Cole Kmet has already gotten a lot of heat from both fans and analysts in his young career. Some of it deserving, some of it not. Despite what your thoughts are on the young tight end, these are the facts.
Cole Kmet started every game for the Bears last season and finished with 60 receptions for 612 yards. At a young 23 years of age these stats are beyond promising. In just one season, Kmet’s yard totals jumped up nearly 400 yards.
The Bears offseason moves will help out Kmet similarly to how it will help Darnell Mooney. With big names leaving in free agency, Kmet’s volume should increase. Already being targeted 93 times last season, Kmet will be seeing a lot of action this coming fall.
My only concern with Kmet getting a Pro Bowl nod is the fact that there are many other good tight ends in same conference as him. Names like Kittle, Hockenson, Schultz, and Pitts to name a few. Cole has to see a jump in production if he wants to be mentioned in the same light as those names, but I have faith that Kmet can do it.
