The Chicago Bulls could sign free agent forward Thaddeus Young
Once upon a time, the Bulls signed Thaddeus Young to a 3-year deal. After two seasons in Chicago, Young was dealt to the San Antonio Spurs in a trade that helped the Bulls land DeMar DeRozan. In short, that trade worked out for the Bulls.
However, when Young got to the Spurs, he was hardly used. Then, he was traded again mid-season to the Toronto Raptors, where he played 26 games and averaged more minutes than he was given in San Antonio. Now, Young enters free agency once again after his previous deal signed in Chicago.
Like Portis, Young would be a much-needed presence off the bench. When he was in Chicago previously, Young played some of the best basketball of his career. He’s a very versatile player that can guard multiple positions and brings some intensity on defense. He’s also an above average jump shooter, giving the Bulls some scoring as well.
One aspect of his game that’s underrated is his ability to play point forward when needed. He’s got great vision and can pass better than most power forwards in today’s league. Over the 2020-2021 season with the Bulls, Young averaged 4.3 assists per game as a reserve forward.
