Why should the Chicago Bears worry about George Pickens?

One of the second-round favorites, from Bears fans at least, is Georgia’s George Pickens. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver has every bit of a true number one in terms of his athletic profile. He looks the part, acts the part and, by all accounts, should end up being that guy as a pro. However, there are just a couple of reasons to worry.

First off, Pickens just recovered from an ACL tear last year. Now, those injuries are no where near as scary as they used to be in terms of ending a career. He also recovered pretty quickly, which is a great sign. Yet, a guy coming off a significant injury like that is never a sure thing.

Also, Pickens hasn’t really had a full season being the dominant guy. Georgia’s offense spreads the ball around quite a bit, and his best season came back in 2019 when he led the Bulldogs with 49 receptions for 727 yards and eight scores. That was a relatively dominant year, all things considered, because of how many players Georgia likes to use in their offense.

By all accounts, Pickens has what it takes to be that dominant guy. In fact, if it wasn’t for his ACL tear last year, many predicted he would have his best year yet. He very well could have been a first rounder. So, with Pickens comes a little unknown. It’s all on him to prove he can be that guy.
