The Chicago Bears are finally making the right decision to start Justin Fields. It is largely because of Andy Dalton’s status in terms of his health as he is dealing with a knee injury. Regardless, we finally get to see what the kid can do knowing he is the starter for the whole game. This also means that he is going to get first-team reps in practice which should really help him.

As fun as it is to think about Fields under center, there is also a bit of coincidence with this decision. Justin Fields finished his collegiate carer with Ohio State before being drafted to the NFL. His first career start is going to come in the same state of Ohio against the Cleveland Browns. Those fans have been watching him for a long time.

Even if you aren’t a Buckeye fan, football people in Ohio know about what Justin did while attending their program. It should be fun to see what kind of reception he gets while playing there in front of those people. We know that the Bears fans in attendance will be happy to see him.

Fields went into the 2020 college football season as the consensus number two quarterback in the draft behind Trevor Lawrence. During that season, he played amazingly and beat Lawrence in a playoff game. Somehow, that actually made him fall to the Chicago Bears, who traded up to get him. He was the fourth out of five quarterbacks taken in the first round. Don’t think this kid doesn’t feed off that disrespect.

The Chicago Bears are going to have a lot of success with Justin Fields moving forward.

There are probably plenty of Ohio State/Cleveland Browns fans that are salty about that as well. One of the greatest players in the history of their program was extremely undervalued in the 2021 NFL Draft. Hopefully, he makes the rest of the league pay.

Now, nobody is expecting Browns fans to cheer for Fields on Sunday. That is a great team in the AFC North that has a division title on their minds with hopes that they can make a run at the Super Bowl. They lost a heartbreaker to the Kansas City Chiefs in week one and dominated the Houston Texans in week two. They are hoping to get over .500 with a big win over the Bears. That would likely propel them to another 10+ win season.

This is the biggest game of Fields’ career up to this point. In the state where he made such a big impact on the college stage, he has a chance to grab the Chicago Bears starting quarterback job and run with it. If he plays well, Dalton won’t take another step as long as Fields is healthy. This is going to be a lot of fun to watch.
