The Notre Dame Football Fighting Irish have a big chance in the ACC Championship.

The Notre Dame Football Fighting Irish have been an impressive group in 2020. Fans are seeing them in a spot where they have never seen them before and that is a conference title game. They are normally an independent program that doesn’t play in a conference but like many other things in 2020, things changed for one year. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot about the 2020 college football season and one of the biggest changes is that Notre Dame is in the ACC.

Nobody really knew what to expect from them after a somewhat disappointing 2019 season but they have been very strong. The ACC has belonged to Clemson University for a few years now but Notre Dame is trying to take it over for a year. They already beat them once already this year and are now looking to cap off an undefeated season.

Normally, Notre Dame has to go undefeated to make it to the College Football Playoff but if they lose to Clemson, there is a chance that both schools get in. If they win, Notre Dame will be in and Clemson will be out in favor of a different conference’s team. Fans of the Irish believe that they can win against Clemson one more time.

Of course, a team like Clemson has lots of NFL pedigree on it. They already have seen four quarters and some overtime of Notre Dame’s roster. A team like that with a coach like Dabo Sweeney should be able to adjust what they need to. The elephant in the room is the fact that Trevor Lawrence didn’t play in the previous match due to a COVID-19 diagnosis. Now, he is fully recovered and ready to go for this game.

Lawrence is going to be the number one pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and is one of the highest regarded college quarterbacks in the history of the sport. Names like Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning always come up when discussing Lawrence’s potential as the number one pick. Having that guy back should make the Clemson Tigers very confident.

Of course, something for Notre Dame fans to think about is the fact that Trevor Lawrence’s backup, DJ Uiagalelei, is also an amazing young quarterback. It is hard to imagine seeing Lawrence doing better than 29/44 with 439 passing yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions which is exactly what Uiagalelei did.

Notre Dame is also very capable of doing other things to slow down Clemson. Ian Book has had a very good year as quarterback. He can make throws and athletic plays to help his team win. Kyren Williams is also a great runner so winning with a good run game and a good defense is also something they do well.

light. Hot. Houston Texans prove that having an elite QB doesn't solve everything

It might be a tough game and they may or may not win but they certainly have a chance. It is going to be a close (and entertaining) football game from beginning to end if each team plays to their strength. Clemson opened as the favorites but don’t be surprised at either outcome. Hopefully, the Irish are able to take care of business in the most important game of the season.
