The Chicago Cubs may or may not trade him. As of right now, both he and the Cubs need to act as if he is going to be there in 2021. His contract was tendered so there is a chance that he is back. The only way that he will be gone is if he is traded which means another team will have to be willing to add a player like him. In terms of constructing the perfect possible lineup for 2021, Bryant needs to be included.

He would get another chance to be hitting second. If he were to return to form and stay healthy, he is still one of the best hitters on the team. Batting second behind Happ would make this lineup dangerous if he was able to contribute like we know he can. Everyone in the core had tough years in 2020 and Bryant was no exception.

The funny thing is that he might not play third base. The Cubs no longer have Kyle Schwarber so they need someone in left. Bryant has shown in the past that he can play multiple positions and left field is one of them. Having Bryant hit second and playing left would help this lineup be a bit more prolific in 2021 than if he wasn’t there. The 2020 short season was tough but all signs point to him playing well next season.
