57. 215. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. OT. Kentucky. Landon Young. player

Why not add another offensive lineman, especially at the tackle position? The Bears could be looking at an offensive tackle overhaul over the next couple of years with Charles Leno and Bobby Massie both struggling in recent seasons, so gathering as much talent as possible at that position will only be for the better.

Landon Young stands 6-foot-7, weighing in around 320 pounds. Obviously, his frame is one which NFL scouts wills salivate over. He’s got the goods, physically speaking. His stature is everything you want in a pro tackle.

Young has also been part of some great rushing attacks at Kentucky, with guys like Benny Snell and Lynn Bowden. Kentucky’s offensive line is one of the more underrated groups over the last couple of seasons, too, so coming from a strong group says something for Young.

The area he’ll need to improve, and reason why he’ll be a later pick, is with his technique. If you read up on him, just about every draft blurb on Young talks about technique needing to be addressed. A lower pad level is one of the biggest sticking points for Young, as well as adding some more strength to give a bigger “pop” off the line.

As a sixth rounder, Young is a value. There is definitely a lot to like with his game, and if polished, he could turn out to be, at the very least, a great reserve lineman.
