Football

Theo has said multiple times that it is insulting to football guys to think that he could go to an NFL organization and turn them around. That is probably something that isn’t true, however. Yes, Theo is a baseball guy through and through and it shows with how well he has done as a President of Baseball Operations in the MLB. With that said, he is such a good leader and manager that he could absolutely go to a bad NFL team and turn them around if he wanted to.

The reason he would succeed is that he wouldn’t necessarily have to do anything related to football if he didn’t want to. Ted Phillips is currently the President of the Chicago Bears and he has done a pretty bad job at hiring. Ryan Pace, Phillips’ guy has been awful and Matt Nagy hasn’t been much better as a head coach.

Do you mean to tell me that if Theo Epstein was the one doing the hiring, things wouldn’t go smooth? Nobody should buy that because Theo knows how to manage. He knows talent when he sees it better than most executives who have ever lived so if he came over to football he should be able to transition.

The man knows how to hire smart people. He also knows how to allow someone under him to have power and not let his position get to his head. If he went to a bad NFL franchise, like the Bears, he would hire a smart GM who would hire a smart coach. This one is a stretch but it would certainly be fun to see him make a transition like that. Whatever Theo does next in his life, you know that fans will support him and wish him well.
