Commissioner of Major League Baseball

Let’s be honest with ourselves. Baseball is an amazing sport and Major League Baseball is a lot of fun to be a part of. However, it is poorly run. Rob Manfred doesn’t seem like he is a bad guy but he is certainly in way over his head when it comes to being the MLB’s commissioner. There are many things that he has done or allowed to happen that warrant his removal from the position.

For one, the way that the Houston Astros cheating scandal was handled was very bad. For all intents and purposes, they had a very light punishment for what they did. If that is the standard punishment for cheating, it sets a very bad example for the rest of the league. The next thing is the way that the return to play from COVID-19 was handled. They only ended up playing 60 games when it could have been resolved a lot sooner.

Theo Epstein is absolutely capable of taking over that job. He would be a great commissioner. He is a very smart businessman and a great leader. He knows how to put people in the best possible position to get the most out of them. His work as a team president has really proven that. He would also be very good in helping the league and players association come up with a new collective bargaining agreement. Nothing but good for the game of baseball would come from the owners hiring Theo Epstein as the MLB commissioner.
