Chicago Bears: 5 players whose stock went down after Week 3
By Ryan Heckman
5. QB Mitchell Trubisky
If this isn’t the most obvious name that could have made the list… Of course Mitchell Trubisky’s stock plummeted after Week 3. He was benched mid-game. How much more obvious could this be?
Here’s the thing, though. If Foles plays out the season, that means Trubisky’s time is done in Chicago. Not only that, but what does the future look like for Trubisky if he goes out like this?
Let’s all admit, he is such an easy guy to like. He’s easy to root for. The guy is just plain likable. But, separating emotions from football is a must — and the fact is, Trubisky has been average at best over his four years in Chicago.
So, what’s the future look like for him? Does he get a shot to compete for a starting job next year? Does he get signed as purely a backup?
The next few months are crucial for his future in the league, even if it’s not in Chicago. How he handles himself, how he works and how he supports his teammates will speak volumes to his next potential team.
The move Nagy made, coupled with some of the comments from coaches already this week, prove that Trubisky was Pace’s guy. He’s not the coaching staff’s quarterback. We can assume his time is done in Chicago. It is now on him to control what he can control and change the perception of his future going forward.
