4. WR Allen Robinson

Wait a minute. How can a guy coming off a game with 10 receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown see his stock go down? It’s pretty simple, actually.

More from Da Windy City

First of all, allow me to be the first one to say that I still believe in Allen Robinson. I have been on the extension train for a long time. In fact, I still believe Ryan Pace would be making a tremendous mistake in not extending Robinson as soon as possible.

But, it’s clear that the contract situation has been distracting to Robinson. We have never seen him make the type of mistakes he’s made in the last two weeks. It’s startling, really.

Two weeks in a row, Robinson has caught a pass in the air which was taken away from him, resulting in an interception.

Say what you want about the one in Atlanta. Sure, it could have been a bad call. Robinson very well could have had a touchdown there. But, securing the football is his job — period. That’s what he gets paid to do. That’s what he will be extended for doing; catching and securing the football.

Normally, he’s one of the best in the entire NFL at doing this. He’s led the league in contested catches since joining the Bears, in fact. This is completely out of character for him, which is why I still believe he needs to be around for a long, long time.

However, seeing him give up these types of plays to defensive backs two games in a row is shocking and disappointing. He has to be better. He’s a professional. It’s time to use the contract situation for good. Robinson has to go out there and prove he’s better than those mistakes.
