Chicago Bears: 4 recently-cut players to consider signing
By Ryan Heckman
4. RB Dare Ogunbowale
The Bears still need running back depth, regardless of what Matt Nagy tells us. With David Montgomery returning to practice, that gives fans a little bit of relief. However, keeping Ryan Nall on the roster in favor of other guys available doesn’t make much sense.
The Bears have liked Nall since grabbing him as an undrafted free agent, but his skillset is best suited for something along the lines of a fullback. The Bears have a guy like that in JP Holtz, who is bigger and can catch the football if need be.
If the Bears wanted to add some running back depth, they could look at Dare Ogunbowale who was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the weekend. The Bucs, of course, added Leonard Fournette on top of already having veteran LeSean McCoy, rookie KeShawn Vaughn and presumed starter Ronald Jones.
Already having visited the Las Vegas Raiders, Ogunbowale likely won’t be without a job for too long. The main reason is because of his special teams value, where he has been one of the better special teams player in all of football.
Ogunbowale can also catch the ball well, and he’s a feisty guy with the ball in his hands — a real high-effort player. He would be a fantastic fourth running back who could provide value in a variety of spots.
