3. CB Prince Amukamara

The Bears know this guy well, of course. Prince Amukamara was without a job for a while before the Raiders signed him and ultimately released him. Now, he’s looking for a job yet again.

The Bears made it clear they were going to value their young cornerbacks with the players they kept. But, Amukamara would provide much better depth behind starters Jaylon Johnson and Kyle Fuller. Not to say Kindle Vildor and Duke Shelley won’t pan out, but a team with aspirations such as the Bears (yes, Super Bowl) should look at keeping a veteran around to step in as well.

Last season, Amukamara wasn’t his best. He also doesn’t provide many opportunities when it comes to takeaways. But, he knows this defense and he knows his former teammates.

If either Fuller or Johnson were to go down to injury, I’m not so sure there would be supreme confidence in either of the young guys to take over. Buster Skrine could always move from the slot to the outside, but then that leaves a young guy at his open spot, too.

Amukamara would relieve some of the unknown involved if one of the key starters were to be unavailable, and at a cheaper cost now, he makes a lot of sense for the Bears.
