Chicago Blackhawks: Legends showed up to play despite odds
Jonathan Toews is still one of the best two-way centers in the National Hockey League. It feels like there are doubts about him going into each season but he keeps coming out and having good years. His offensive numbers can be hit or miss in certain stretches but he is always there for his team when they need him most. It is unbelievable what he has been able to do in high-pressure situations over the years.
He will always be remembered for his ability to come up clutch. Well, it was more of the same in this little run that the Blackhawks had. He scored many late goals to tie or win games in his career and he brought some more of that in this series. The clutch play from Toews was apparent in this run as he had five goals and four assists for nine points in nine playoff games.
Toews is the type of player who the Blackhawks will always see as one of the best players in the history of the franchise. He is going to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer because of his career accolades. The way he played against Edmonton and Vegas makes him look even better because along with the other legends on this team, he carried a lot of dead weight.
