Chicago Bears: 3 recent Trubisky quotes cause serious concern
By Ryan Heckman
2. A slow learner
Much was made a few months back when Patrick Mahomes commented about just having recently learned how to read defenses as a pro quarterback. There were jokes for days. After all, you’re now talking about the highest paid athlete in professional sports history — a quarterback — finally learning how to read a defense?

But, let’s be honest. It’s Mahomes. He’s already earned the titles league MVP, Super Bowl MVP and Super Bowl Champion. He can admit to whatever shortcomings he wants at this point and everybody will forgive him.
Trubisky on the other hand? That’s another story.
This one was back in June, when Trubisky finally spoke for the first time since the Bears acquired Nick Foles.
"“. . . watching every single snap from the last two seasons . . . and seeing what coverage it actually was versus what I was seeing on the field.”"
While the jokes around Mahomes reading a defense were light-hearted and spoke of just how bright his future was, the jokes made after Trubisky’s comment went the other direction.
This guy is already in question. He’s already been labeled a bust by many, and now he’s admitting he just recently learned how to read a defense?
It’s always better late than never, but I would assume that the best time to learn what coverage you were actually facing would be the following Monday morning in the film room — not months later.
This is year number four, folks. If he doesn’t know how to read a defense, say goodbye. It’s over. This kid will never get it.
