Trade No. 3

Last season, the Bears went out of their way to provide fans with an unintentional circus when it came to their kicking competition. Ryan Pace just wanted to find the right guy, but many fans and media thought having so many kickers in for a competition was a little excessive and, quite frankly, desperate.

Sure, they landed on Eddy Pineiro and he’s their guy for now. But, Pineiro seems to have some mental struggles at times and I’m not confident he’s going to be the guy for years to come.

The Cowboys went out and signed Greg Zuerlein this offseason, who will undoubtedly be their starting kicker for 2020. Still, they have veteran Kai Forbath on the roster, and I think he’d be a great guy to bring in and compete with Pineiro during camp.

A conditional seventh is all it should take to get Forbath, who played for two teams last year and finished 11 for 11 on field goals, with a long of 50 yards. Bears fans should remember Forbath from his recent days with the Minnesota Vikings, from 2016-2017.

Forbath, 32, is a career 86.8 percent on field goals and has made 62 out of his last 69 field goals — a time period that spans from 2016-2019. His career-long is from an impressive 57 yards out.

Bringing in Forbath would assure fans that Pace is still wanting to get this position 100 percent fixed for a serious playoff run, and I think out of all three of these trades, this could be the very best.
