Trade No. 2

This second deal comes mostly out of the Bears potentially having one too many receivers. There is definitely a world where third-year wideout Javon Wims is cut during training camp, and floating him out there to net a pick in return may be wise. The Giants could end up being a great fit.

Sterling Shepard has dealt with injuries in the past, as has tight end Evan Engram. Golden Tate could be cut loose after this season if the Giants don’t want to continue to pay him, leaving them primarily with Shepard and Darius Slayton.

Quarterback Daniel Jones could use a big-bodied wide receiver like Wims, who also has a pretty impressive catch radius. Unfortunately for Chicago, his type is not used as much within Matt Nagy’s offense.

In this instance, I think reaching for a sixth-round pick may be too much for the Giants. But, I would assume they could get a seventh for Wims in the end. After all, that’s where the Bears took him a couple of years ago.

Trading Wims would leave the Bears with Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller, Ted Ginn Jr., Riley Ridley, Darnell Mooney and Cordarrelle Patterson in the wide receiver room. With Wims being the seventh guy, it’s easy to see why he may not be round much longer.
