2. Running Back Tarik Cohen

I still haven’t concluded exactly why I have Tarik Cohen on this list, but that’s because we’re not sure who will take his spot. I’ve had it out for Cohen since seeing what he put on tape last year. I’ve long said that this past season was completely uninspiring from Cohen and that he was not himself in the least bit.

The question now becomes: who will be the Bears’ second-string compliment to David Montgomery?

The long shot would be either of Ryan Nall or undrafted rookie Artavis Pierce, both of whom played their college ball at Oregon State. The more likely option, however, is if the Bears waited a while and signed a veteran running back.

Guys like Devonta Freeman, Isaiah Crowell, Lamar Miller and Bilal Powell are still out there and would come extremely cheap. At this stage, I don’t see how it could hurt bringing one of them into camp.

Another possibility which might catch us all off guard is if Cordarrelle Patterson really does start to take more significant snaps out of the back field, which we heard Matt Nagy talk about early in the offseason. Patterson was phenomenal out of the back field last year, so why not continue that role for him?
