Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers might be the team that shocked the world the most at night one of the drafts. They made a trade with the Miami Dolphins to move up and select Jordan Love from Utah State. It is a very peculiar trade because they still have Aaron Rodgers in the prime of his career. They were one win away from the Super Bowl just a few months ago.

Rodgers had, earlier in the day, talked about how they haven’t drafted a skill position player in the first round to help him in a while. Well, he was right as this pick makes it 15 straight years that they didn’t draft a first-round wide receiver or running back. Instead, they drafted his potential successor. This pick was sort of a precursor for how day two went.

They did end up drafting some help on day two. They took running back A.J. Dillon Boston College. Later on, they took a tight end named Josiah Deguara from Cincinnati. It was a weird string of picks for Green Bay this year. Let’s be clear about something, the Green Bay Packers have been wildly more successful than our Chicago Bears since the beginning of time but this doesn’t seem to be where it is at for them.

Green Bay might prove us all wrong many years down the line, but right now it looks like they have made the least impact on their 2020 chances with their draft. They still have a top-10 all-time great quarterback so they are going to be a good team but this draft hasn’t been great for them compared to the other NFC North teams.
