Chicago Bears NFL Draft: 3 SEC game-breakers to target
This might be hard for Bears fans to swallow but we aren’t sure if David Montgomery is the real deal or not. He was a third-round pick in 2019 Draft and the Bears thought he might form a nice duo with Tarik Cohen after trading Jordan Howard to the Philadelphia Eagles. Well, the running game wasn’t very good in 2019 and it was a major factor in the offense playing bad. Obviously, the quarterback play is the main issue, but they need to develop a much better rushing attack.
Their offensive line and quarterback play might need to improve to help the running game, but drafting D’Andre Swift from Georgia might also make an impact. Montgomery and Swift might be able to form a really nice duo with Cohen there for special packages and special teams. If they don’t run the ball successfully in 2020, they are going to struggle on offense again.
Georgia is one of the elite programs in college football right now. Swift improved in their running attack each season he was there. He had 1218 yards on 196 carries in 2019 with an average of 6.2 yards-per-carry. He added seven touchdowns for the Bulldogs in the process. Swift and the Dogs ultimately made it to the SEC title game with a berth in the College Football Playoff presumably on the line but they were defeated by LSU. Still, it was a good season for Swift and he would look awesome wearing blue and orange.
