Chicago Bears NFL Draft: Must-have WR targets for each round
By Ryan Heckman
Ranking 2nd Round WRs
Let’s assume the Bears do not trade up to a higher second-round pick. Let’s also assume that Mims, Higgins and Reagor are gone by pick no. 43. With that said, these are the realistic options for the Bears at their position in the second.
1. Brandon Aiyuk, Arizona State
2. Laviska Shenault, Colorado
3. KJ Hamler, Penn State
This is the round where things have the potential to go nuts, especially if we don’t see more than four receivers go in the first round. But, out of these three guys, I love the idea of throwing Aiyuk into the Bears offense right away. He is a monster after the catch, and comes close to the skill set of Reagor.
Shenault has a lot to love about him as well, as he could very well end up being a true no. 1 guy. However, the injury history scares me a little bit and he’d have to be taken at the back half of the second round to get a great value.
Now, he might be third on this list, but Hamler is intriguing. He’s a burner. Hamler is a true speed threat, which many argue is exactly what the Bears are lacking in their offense right now — and I tend to agree. I can’t argue with grabbing Hamler at pick 50 or even a little later if the Bears trade back. He very well could be the missing link.
