Chicago Bears NFL Draft: Must-have WR targets for each round
By Ryan Heckman
Realistic options in the 1st Round (Picks 22-32)
To be fair, the first two rounds are going to be absolutely bananas as far as wide receivers go. I think it’s safe to say that Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs and CeeDee Lamb are locks to be top-20 picks. But, after that, things could start to go haywire in a hurry.
If the Bears were to trade up into the second half of the first round (which I don’t think they will) these are the guys I’d be thrilled to have there.
1. Denzel Mims, Baylor
2. Justin Jefferson, LSU
3. Jalen Reagor, TCU
4. Tee Higgins, Clemson
These will all be quick hits, but let’s start with Mims. He has the making of a true no. 1 wideout. Think about pairing him with Allen Robinson on the opposite side. That seems too good to be true, but my goodness, it would be lethal. Mims’ catch radius is off the charts, and he has everything you want in a receiver besides that.
I actually think Jefferson could go before Mims, but I like Mims’ skillset better for the Bears. I think MIms is a scarier prospect. But, Jefferson also has that true no. 1 type body and I would be ecstatic to land him.
Reagor is the wildcard, here. He could definitely drop to the second round, in which case I think he’s an absolute steal. He is arguably the second-best player in terms of after-the-catch abilities, next to Lamb.
Higgins will also probably be gone by the late first, and I don’t think it’s likely the Bears trade up specifically for him. However, I can’t say I’d be mad having him on the roster.
