Chicago Bears NFL Draft: Final QB rankings, possible trade included
By Ryan Heckman
Round 2
In the second round, the Bears should keep eyes on two specific quarterbacks if they’re interested in the position this high.
1. Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma
2. Jacob Eason, Washington
At pick no. 50, either one of these guys would be a valuable selection. I don’t think Jalen Hurts or Jacob Eason make it into the third round, so the Bears would have to take their shot.
Hurts is certainly the most intriguing of these two, although I’d be happy with either. Hurts’ mobility is obviously one of the best parts of his game. He can make plays with his feet better than just about any other quarterback in this class. Plus, he’s a winner.
There are concerns about Hurts as a true pocket passer, but over the last few months we’ve seen him work hard on that and actually improve significantly. His Combine performance was impressive, as well as his Pro Day.
Eason, meanwhile, has a cannon of an arm. That’s why it might be easy to fall in love with a quarterback like him. There was a time where he was looked at as a first-round guy, but at the moment, the second round seems like a fair value for his talent.
