5. More Rashaad Coward, Trubisky’s ability to run the offense, and penalties.

Let’s start with Rashaad Coward. He has the potential to develop into another hidden gem for the Bears. Now do I think he’ll ever be a top-tier right guard? Probably not. But after watching him up close during training camp in Bourbonnais in 2019, I’ll tell you this much: He’s going to be a good player if he’s given time to develop.

Onto Trubisky now. During the Bears second-half run last year that saw the Bears win five straight games, the week-to-week difference in Trubisky looking more comfortable in operating the offense was clear. And what was one of the biggest factors behind all that? The offensive line giving him time to throw.

Now that the Bears have made a change on the offensive line, Trubisky should be back to where he was playing during the second half of the season last year. This year, the connection between Allen Robinson and Trubisky has been one of the few bright spots for the Bears all season. This is also a connection that should continue to develop as the season progresses.

Now onto the NFL’s referee situation. Trust me, you’re not biased if you’re mad that the Packers got away with a win on Monday night against the Lions. The NFL has never gotten it’s referee situation right and it’s been an ongoing problem for years.

Plain and simple, the Lions got robbed of a win because the NFL has yet to determine what the most simple of penalities are such as hands-to-the-face. Monday night’s showdown in Lambeau Field was just one example of a game that cost a team a win and has bigger implications than most think. The NFL needs to figure this out. More teams will eventually lose games due to poor refereeing which is going to have a bigger impact than most expect.
