Chicago Bears: Biggest winners and losers from training camp
Winner #2: WR Allen Robinson
The Bears made a big splash in free agency last season when they signed wide receiver Allen Robinson to a three-year, $42 million deal. In his first season in Chicago, Robinson led the team in receiving yards with 754.
Bears fans are looking for a receiver that will be a true number one on the depth chart, and Robinson seems to be that guy. The team lacked a true star at the position for a long time.
While Robinson didn’t have his biggest season numbers-wise last year, he made a great impact during the team’s playoff game.
It was clear that he had a connection with quarterback Mitch Trubisky in that game. Trubisky should really get an honorable mention in this category because apparently that connection only strengthened in time.
Trubisky and Robinson were on the same page throughout camp. It looked like Trubisky’s favorite target was Robinson, as they made a variety of impressive plays throughout training camp. Robinson looks primed for a big season.
The Bears passing offense needs to improve from last season when they ranked 21st in the NFL in average pass yards per game. A better season from Robinson and potential breakout receiver Anthony Miller could do wonders for the passing game.
