The fact that the depth chart says Elliott Fry OR Eddy Pineiro is not reassuring.

Where to start with the Chicago Bears kicking situation? We all know the Cody Parkey situation and kicking saga so I won’t delve too much into that again. The Bears are down to just two kickers now after bringing in everyone and their brother in mini-camp but Elliott Fry and Eddy Pineiro are the final left two standing.

I don’t expect the Bears to make any moves in free agency between now and Opening Night so Fry or Pineiro are going to need to provide some clarity at the kicker position. The fact that the depth chart says “OR” between their names tells me there still is not a clear front-runner.

I am 100 percent sure Nagy will utilize every opportunity in the preseason for each guy to get a shot at attempting a field goal in real game action. There’s a difference between hitting a 60-yard field goal in training camp while not wearing pads versus the real thing.

The Bears need a resolution at the position and could have been the difference between them playing in the Super Bowl last season. They proved they could dominate the high-powered Rams offense but it ultimately came down to the kicking game against the Eagles.

Again, I expect both Fry and Pineiro to get every look possible starting in tomorrow night’s game and hopefully the team and us fans can start to get some clarity on the situation.
