Running Back Kerrith Whyte

Don’t panic just yet, but a common fan favorite and rookie seventh round pick, Kerrith Whyte, is listed behind second-year pro Ryan Nall on the initial depth chart. It’s early, but this is interesting, nonetheless.

The Bears’ top three backs are set in stone. Whether they’re listed as the starter, backup or third in line, the fact of the matter is that David Montgomery, Tarik Cohen and Mike Davis are making this roster without a doubt.

Montgomery is going to handle the bulk of the carries, with Cohen sprinkled in all over the place. Davis will get his touches, as well, and even Cordarrelle Patterson could absorb some back field touches on occasion.

So, if the Bears decide to carry four backs (which is likely), it’s either Nall or Whyte. If it was me, I would personally prefer Whyte because of his speed and versatility as a return man. As of right now, though, Nall is beating him out for that fourth spot.
