Chicago Bears: Ranking the top 7 biggest NFC threats
By Usayd Koshul
1. New Orleans Saints, tier one
Easily the biggest threat to the Bears in 2019, the Saints would’ve represented the NFC in the Super Bowl last season had it not been for a blown call. Now, it’s clear that Drew Brees and Sean Payton are looking for revenge.
What makes the Saints such a dangerous team is the pieces that are on offense. While star wide receiver Michael Thomas continues to holdout in hopes of a new deal, running back Alvin Kamara poses a problem to any defense due to his dual-threat nature.
What makes any Saints playmaker so dangerous is their ability to make plays in space. Once a guy like Kamara or Thomas has about five yards of green grass to run, they’re automatically a threat to score from anywhere on the field.
Out of all the teams on this list, the Saints are one team that if the Bears need to get into an offensive shootout, it’d be hard to tell whether or not the Bears would really be able to keep up. Chicago does, however, have the defense to slow down an explosive, high-powered Saints offense.
When the Bears and Saints meet at Soldier Field in week seven, it will essentially be a way-too-early preview of two teams that could meet in the NFC Championship Game. It’s crucial that the Bears win that week as it would allow for Chicago to lock up the number one seed in the NFC.
