Trubisky time

Some might suggest Trubisly should be higher on this list, considering all of the national attention (much of it negative) that he has gotten since the end of last season. But that’s just it — most, if not all, of the noise, is external. There aren’t any individuals within Halas Hall that don’t believe in Mitch or at the very least, provided their public support to him.

In fact, there aren’t many local pundits who have been super critical of him. Are there many who note this is an important season for him, and expect another step forward for the young quarterback? Of course. But all of that is incredibly fair, and not necessarily a criticism.

In this regard, while there are high expectations for Trubisky to succeed this year, they pale in comparison to the expectations he places on himself. Regardless of what the media or fans say about him in the press or on social media, it is not going to change his approach or the high-level of self-reflection he engages in.

The reality is Trubisky appears exponentially more comfortable, not just with Matt Nagy’s complex offense, but in the role of franchise quarterback and all of the extra-curriculars that come with it. I fully expect him to be much more proactive than reactive in all phases of the position and look forward to watching how he develops this year.
