Characteristics

Height: 5’11”
Weight: 190lbs
Age: 24
Experience: 1 year

College: Memphis

Miller took a couple of years to get going for the Memphis Tigers. He was redshirted his freshman year and had an injury before the season started and missed the 2014 season. It was not until 2015 when Anthony Miller was able to start showcasing his football abilities.

He started four games and played in 12 for the Memphis Tigers that year. He caught 47 balls for 694 yards and five touchdowns during that span. In 2016, Miller showed how good of a receiver he really could be. During his junior season, Miller caught 95 passes for 1,434 yards and 14 touchdowns.

He doubled down on his 2016 season in 2017 by catching 96 balls for 1,462 yards and 18 touchdowns. Miller might have started slowly due to being a walk-on followed by a season ending injury in the preseason, but he proved he can be a dominant force.

Anthony Miller is so confident in his abilities that he wrote a letter to all the General Managers before the 2019 NFL Draft. He explained how he thought he was the best wide receiver in the draft class. He mentions how he led the draft class in touchdowns and was third in receiving yards.

However, most importantly he talks about his drive and will to work hard to succeed. These attributes are what sets him apart from most and why I fell in love with him as a player and a person.

NFL: Bears

In his first year with the Bears, he proved once again that he can find the end zone. He scored seven touchdowns to lead the group in that category. He saw limited playing time unfortunately due to a nagging shoulder injury.

In fact, Miller’s injury was much worse than the team let on during the season. He dislocated it many times and the only way to fully fix the problem was to have surgery. Miller decided he wanted to finish his rookie year and help his team. He played through the pain, but that also limited his production.

As I stated, I fell in love with this kid going into the 2019 NFL Draft. I was ecstatic when the Bears made a move to draft him in the second round. He has the tools and the drive that you want to see in all players in the NFL. His confidence is beyond measurable. He had surgery this offseason to fix the shoulder and if that holds up, watch out. Miller was good with one arm. I cannot wait to see him play with two.
