The Chicago White Sox had an interesting series in Washington, and it shows that some growing pains are still there and this season will continue to be up and down.

The Chicago White Sox were defeated in both games of their two-game series with the Washington Nationals. They didn’t win either game but there were points in both of them that you thought they might pull it out.

They had a 5-0 lead in the first game and they came all the way back from down 4-1 in the second game. Well, they ended up blowing that 5-0 lead and then a Trea Turner walk-off home run in the second game secured the two-game sweep for Washington.

The White Sox were 6-1 in their last seven games headed into this series, and they appeared to be trending in the right direction. Well, this series suggests that they might still be trending in the right direction but there will still be growing pains along the way. They are far off of where they need to be before they are perennial playoff contenders.

Yoan Moncada had a good series, including a home run in each game. He continues to grow and become that star player that we all hoped he would become. He is one of the core pieces of the team that will be a major part of how this team does going forward.

The two starting pitchers in this series for the White Sox were Reynaldo Lopez and Dylan Covey. Covey did okay but Lopez allowed the Nationals to come back after being up 5-0. There are going to be games that guys like Lucas Giolito dominate, but the starting pitching all around needs to be better.

Now they embark on a three-game series with their good friends, the Kansas City Royals. This has been a spicy matchup all year long and it looks like it is going to continue all year long. This is a chance for the White Sox to dominate another series and get back on track.

It could also be their last series without the services of starting pitcher Dylan Cease. Nothing is guaranteed, but there isn’t much more he can prove in AAA. That would sure be an exciting move and could help this team.
