Chicago Bulls: Big Ten players to watch in 2019 NCAA Tournament
By Ryan Heckman
Forward Ignas Brazdeikis, Michigan
Another intriguing player coming out of the Big Ten is one of the more impressive shooters from beyond the arc. Ignas Brazdeikis out of Michigan is a 6-foot-7 forward who has made a living by piling it on from three-point range this year.
Brazdeikis took a total of 131 shots from long range this year, making a whopping 42 percent of them. Overall, he shot 46.9 percent from the floor and averaged more than 15 points per game for the Michigan Wolverines.
As somewhat of an undersized power forward, yet not the best athlete to play the three, Brazdeikis is kind of caught in between positions. At the NBA level, that shouldn’t be a huge issue because he projects more as a role player anyways.
If he can put on a show in the tournament for his no. 2 seed Wolverines, he would cement himself as an early second-round draft pick who could give any franchise a boost as a reserve. Brazdeikis knows what he does well, and that is to shoot the basketball. If he focuses on what he’s best at, his services will come in crucial at the pro level.
Michigan kicks off their tournament on Thursday night against 15-seed Montana.
