Chicago Bears: Potential free agent adds from Oakland Raiders
1. Martavis Bryant
The Chicago Bears are just plain good at wide receiver. They don’t have an all-world player at that position like an Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr., or Julio Jones. They do have Allen Robinson who had a pretty good year. He is complemented by guys like Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, and Josh Bellamy. These are all guys who can perform as long as Mitchell Trubisky does his job as a quarterback.
All of their lives are made a little easier as well because of the fact that the Bears have had a pretty decent running game. A good running game makes for a good pass game for the most part, so hopefully, the Bears can keep both of those things.
The Oakland Raiders might have an available free agent that can be of some help to the depth at the position. Martavis Bryant is an unrestricted free agent. He is 27 years old right in the prime of his career, and could really contribute if he stays healthy. Bryant finished the 2018 season on injured reserve.

He was on a one year deal with Oakland, after playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers for four seasons. There are a few elephants in the room when talking about Bryant. He does come with some baggage.
He was suspended for the entire 2016 season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Then after being reinstated in 2017, he complained publicly about his role on the Steelers. He wanted more touches and craved being a bigger part of their success. He would miss a few meetings and the Steelers would demote him, but ultimately brought him back.
Last year, he was suspended indefinitely by the league for violating terms of his previous reinstatement. There isn’t any guarantee he is allowed to come back at this point, but if he is, Bryant may be worth the risk.
This is a pretty good wide receiver if he can keep his head on straight and focus on the main goal. It might be a long shot for the Bears to see this opportunity, but if there is a guy who’s judgment of character you can trust, it is head coach Matt Nagy.
If he feels a guy is right for this team, then we should see them as a right fit for this team. Bryant would be a nice addition to the team if he stays healthy and the Bears utilize his skill set right.
