Chicago Bears: Teams that could trade for Jordan Howard
By Ryan Heckman
Oakland Raiders
We meet again, Jon Gruden. Last year, the blockbuster trade which sent shockwaves through the entire NFL came at the hands of the Oakland Raiders and Chicago Bears. Obviously, everyone knows how that turned out. Khalil Mack is now a member of the Bears, and Chicago boasts the top defense in all of football because of it.
The Raiders have the possibility of bringing back one or two aging running backs in Marshawn Lynch and Doug Martin, and neither are the answer at the position. If the Raiders want to accelerate their rebuild, adding a true stud like Howard would be a great start, especially since Gruden is a coach who likes to have a work horse back in his offense.
The Raiders have a whopping three first-round picks this year, thanks to the Bears and Cowboys, so parting with a third-rounder seems doable for them. Not having to worry about drafting at the running back position and focusing on taking the best player available would be a little pressure off the back of Gruden.
The Raiders would have their franchise quarterback (or so Gruden tells us) in Derek Carr, and a young work horse running back in Howard to build around. That’s not a bad outlook, especially for a team sitting on three first-rounders this year.
