Rock Ya-Sin, CB – Temple University

If the NFL Draft was all about names, then Rock Ya-Sin would be the number one overall pick. Fortunately for him, he’s a really, really, good football player too, and is available when the Bears pick in the fourth round (we hope).

Ya-Sin has good size for modern-day cornerbacks at 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds. He’s a very physical corner, but is still developing his skill-set and has some polishing of his game to do. That’s fine as far as the Bears are concerned because they have two outstanding cornerbacks in Prince Amukamara and Kyle Fuller.

Amukamara and Fuller are signed for the next two and three years respectively. Therefore, Ya-Sin can come in and gradually work his way into the NFL. He will not have to be thrust into a starting role where some of his weaknesses can be exploited.

That is not to say that he wouldn’t be able to make an immediate impact, as he excels in man and press coverage. He’s also a cornerback who has an ability to go up and get the football and create turnovers, which is something the Bears did at an incredible rate last year.

Certainly, they would love to add another playmaker type in the defensive backfield to go along with one they already have. Not only does Ya-Sin have the skills to fit in with that group, but also the personality.
