Chicago Bears: 10 bold predictions for 2019 NFL free agency
By Ryan Heckman
3. Bears cut Kyle Long and Dion Sims
Oh man. My heart aches at the thought of this. The Bears move on from Kyle Long? No way. Not in a million years.
That’s what I want to keep telling myself. However, health has been a constant issue for Long since making it to three straight Pro Bowls to begin his career. He’s one of the longest-tenured Bears at the moment, and it would be incredibly hard to see him go.
Long has become one of the strongest voices in the locker room. He’s a guy many younger players look up to, and when he’s healthy, he’s one of the best at his position. The run game thrives even more when he’s on the field.
Due to his health, though, I think it’s possible Chicago cuts ties with him. I have to say, I hope not. But, I don’t think it’s farfetched.
Secondly, Dion Sims has to go. This isn’t quite as bold, but he simply doesn’t fit into anything the Bears are trying to do offensively. He was paid far too much money to begin with a couple of years back, and the Bears need to move on and be done with that contract altogether. Cut the losses and cut Sims.
