Prolific pass rushers

If I were to tell you the Bears and Bills are neck-and-neck in total defense right now, would you believe me? Hey, facts are facts.

The Bills are currently giving up half a yard less than the Bears on the season — good for sixth overall defense in the NFL.

That’s pretty startling to someone who simply looked at this matchup as an “easy win” due to the Bills’ 2-6 record.

One of the main reasons why this Bills defense has been so productive thus far is due to their pass rush. Here’s another fact for you: Bills pass rushers Lorenzo Alexander and Jerry Hughes currently rank 1st and 2nd overall in terms of pass rush productivity (minimum 20 percent of snaps played), per Pro Football Focus.

Both of these guys are generating pressure on over 11 percent of snaps played. That’s alarming if you’re a Bears fan. Mitch Trubisky has proven he is not the most decisive when under pressure, and with these two coming at him all day on Sunday, it will not be easy.

Not only will it be on tackles Charles Leno and Bobby Massie to hold their own, but both Jordan Howard and specifically Tarik Cohen are going to have to shoulder the load in helping out picking up the blitz.
