Chicago Bulls: 4 things to know going into regular season
By Ryan Heckman
1: Fred Hoiberg has his guys working as hard as they ever have
Typically, you don’t like to see your team tired going into a game. That’s generally not a great strategy to have as a coach. But, here we are.
The Bulls’ second preseason game of the year was an all-out catastrophe as they were downed by the Milwaukee Bucks, 116-82. In just about every aspect of the game, Chicago was out-classed by Milwaukee.
After the game, though, LaVine had something interesting to say, and it should have perked up the ears of anybody and everybody listening.
“Tired legs,” was LaVine’s excuse for the poor showing against the Bucks, according to The Chicago Sun Times.
Hoiberg is running his guys hard in practice, but maybe that’s what this young team needs. After the loss to the Bucks, he had this to say, again according to the Times:
"‘‘We’ve had very demanding practices. There’s no doubt about that. The day before [the loss] may have been our hardest practice of the year. But you can’t use that as an excuse. You still have to lay everything on the line.’’"
Personally, I like the attitude from Hoiberg. The least you can say about him, as a coach, is that he is dead serious about having a group of guys who work incredibly hard. Now, maybe he needs to tone down practice the day before a game, sure. Or, simply space out the tougher practices a bit better.
It’ll all come with time, after all, Hoiberg is still relatively new in his NBA-coaching career.
