Deal Robin Lopez

The Bulls have a flat-out issue at the center position. Healthy or not, they have four centers on the roster. Robin Lopez, Wendell Carter Jr., Cristiano Felicio and Omer Asik are all under contract and, obviously, will not all play.

Asik is as good as gone next summer, while I’m not quite sure happens with Felicio in the future. Lopez will be gone as well, but there may be a team out there come the trade deadline who is looking for a veteran big man. Many times, championship-caliber teams find themselves needing depth at the position going into the playoffs. Just take the Golden State Warriors, who had used Zaza Pachulia significantly at times.

More. Bulls send strong messages in first preseason action. light

Not only do the Bulls have too many centers on the roster, but they have one in particular who needs to be on the court early and often. Of course, giving Lopez the respect of having Carter earn the starting position is the right thing to do. But, it would be much easier to commit to Carter if Lopez was out of the picture altogether.

One team that makes sense and could end up using Lopez would be the Los Angeles Lakers. They will be starting veteran JaVale McGee, who we all know might make LeBron James pull out his hair by midseason.

Aside from McGee, they have rookie second-round pick Moritz Wagner, who might need some development before he is given legitimate minutes. The Lakers also have Ivica Zubac at the position.
