Go all-in on Anthony Davis

Recently, a couple of reports have come out regarding New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis and Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving. First and foremost, Irving made it clear he wanted to re-sign in Boston. That’s good news for Celtics fans.

Secondly, the two have apparently spoken about teaming up in the future.

Davis is set to become a free agent in the summer of 2020, meanwhile Irving’s deal includes a player option in the summer of 2019. Both could end up teaming together in Boston.

Or, the Bulls could go all-in on Davis and see if they could lure Irving to Chicago by doing so. Sure, Irving has a nice young core in Boston, but if the Bulls could present both Irving and Davis with deals sufficient enough, maybe they would both consider Chicago.

What would it take to get Davis to Chicago? My guess is something along the lines of Bobby Portis, Kris Dunn and either one or two first-round picks. New Orleans has to know they’re losing him come 2020, so why not get what they can for him in the meantime?

With Davis in Chicago, that would at least get the attention of other future free agents around the league. Maybe it’s not Irving. Either way, Chicago would become a much more attractive destination with Davis in the fold.
