Though he is locked and loaded as the Chicago Bears no. 1 receiver, Allen Robinson is still unable to catch passes from his quarterback.

The Chicago Bears needed significant help at one particular position this offseason, and they addressed it in a big way. With the wide receiving core being so thin following last season, Ryan Pace and the Bears brought in loads of talent via free agency and the draft.

That talent began with former Jacksonville Jaguars stud Allen Robinson. The prototypical true no. 1 wideout comes to the Bears as a guy with a phenomenal catch radius, plenty of speed and the ability to make big plays. While the Bears are excited to have him, Robinson still cannot participate fully in team activities due to his recovering from an ACL injury last year.

Being unable to catch passes from his new quarterback is tough, but that hasn’t stopped Robinson from getting to know Mitch Trubisky. In fact, Robinson has become Trubisky’s biggest fan amidst OTAs. Robinson interviewed with Chicago Sports radio station 670 The Score this week and gave us all an impression of just how special he thinks he quarterback is.

"“Each and every day, he does something different to really make you say ‘Wow.’ He has an incredible delivery as far as how the ball comes out. He has a tremendous arm, and that’s something I picked up early.”"

Coming from a somewhat soured situation in Jacksonville where his relationship with Blake Bortles seemed on the fritz, to say the least, it is encouraging to see him happy in Chicago.

"“He can make any throw on the field and he’s an athletic dude. You don’t really get that combination at the quarterback that much. For him to have both and being very knowledgeable under center, I think the sky’s the limit for him. And he’s a guy who comes in and puts the work in every day.”"

Surely Robinson is doing everything he can to be back on the field in a timely manner, but most importantly, he seems to be studying his new quarterback closely from a position he may not be used to watching from — the sideline.

The interesting thing to watch will be when Robinson is finally able to get on the field. Will he have done enough homework to be plugged right in and already have some kind of chemistry with Trubisky? I think it’s very possible, so long as he continues to study and put in the work he can. It is pretty telling to know your new receiver is watching the franchise quarterback closely, and sending praise from the get-go.

At the moment, Robinson should be good to go for Week 1. He should even be ready far earlier — early enough for the start of training camp. Fans should be real eager to watch their new offensive weapon hook up with the future of the franchise. For now, we can enjoy the schooling and praise from Robinson’s current perspective.
