2018 Free Agency Status: Player Option

If you bleed black and red, like me, your loyalty would make it very, very difficult to root for LeBron James in a Bulls uniform. Between getting your hopes up a few years back when he chose the Miami Heat and now this constant debate over whether he’s the best player of all time, it would be difficult.

For the record, it’s Michael Jordan — don’t even go there.

If, by some miracle from heaven above, James were to consider Chicago, I suppose we would all have to live with it.

More from Da Windy City

That sounds hilarious, doesn’t it? We should all be thrilled if he signed with the Bulls — maybe some of us would be. It kind of has that Brett Favre feel to it though, doesn’t it? If Favre had come to the Chicago Bears instead of the Minnesota Vikings, I would have had to grit my teeth, suck it up and support him.

Alright, so the Favre comparison might be a little off-base. But, you get my point. Could you root for LeBron in a Bulls uniform? I would do my best. Chances are, it’ll never happen — but, remember our theme, here?

Don’t rule anything out.

Most rumors have LeBron going to the 76ers, if not staying with the Cavs.

Surprise, surprise. LeBron could choose to go to a different contending team with young stars on the rise — seems a little un-Jordan-like, right?

Once again, I digress. You can probably guess this would be a tough pill to swallow if it ever happened.

For the sake of the argument, LeBron would do wonders for the Bulls roster. Getting to work with a young guy like LaVine would help further develop his talent quite a bit. Any team that LeBron chooses would be an instant contender. It really doesn’t matter who is on the roster. At least I’m not dumb enough to deny that notion. He’s the best player in the game — his team will always contend.
