Chicago Bears: An Updated Post-Draft Depth Chart
Quarterbacks
QB1: Mitchell Trubisky
QB2: Chase Daniel
QB3: Tyler Bray
While there weren’t any surprise selections by the Bear’s front office, the quarterbacks do get their own slide. It’s worth noting that there were several selections that will directly impact Mitchell Trubisky.
James Daniels will slide in between Charles Leno Jr. and Cody Whitehair at left guard and provide some immediate aid in the ground game and in pass protection.
Anthony Miller should be an instant impact receiver. His comparison to Sterling Shepard should have Bears fans excited. While he did drop 11 catches last season, his route running and reception after the catch abilities are just plain saucy.
Javon Wims is an intriguing downfield threat because he only played one season at Georgia but still led the Bulldogs in receiving. While he didn’t test well with athletic scores (28th-percentile SPARQ results), he does offer some decent size and speed, ball tracking skills, plus a pair of reliable hands. He looks to be ticketed for a possession role down the road.
Point being, the Chicago Bear’s draft has provided Trubisky with even more help, which is music to my ears.
Running Backs
RB: Jordan Howard, Tarik Cohen, Benny Cunningham, Taquan Mizzell
FB: Michael Burton, Ryan Nall
Even with the addition of Ryan Nall after the draft, I don’t expect a ton to change with this group. The offensive additions should have these guys beaming, though. Daniels improves the run game, while Miller and Wims provide more air support. Not to mention the free agent adds, which should absolutely eliminate eight-man fronts.
I’m listing Nall as a fullback/h-back because I think that’s where he’ll fit in at the next level. He will likely need to show a lot to dethrone the incumbent Michael Burton. That may not be a tall task, but keep in mind that Burton has been in the league for three seasons. Given that he is a known quantity, Nall will have his work cut out for him.
