Edge rusher

Obviously, it hasn’t escaped anyone’s notice that the Chicago Bears haven’t drafted an outside pass rusher yet. And though they signed Aaron Lynch in free agency, outside linebacker remains a spot of most desperate need for the Bears.

Ultimately, I see the value in taking someone like Smith to possibly give Fangio his new version of Patrick Willis (though Smith could stand to bulk up some) in the first round.

And not taking Harold Landry early in the second round makes sense if his medicals were as concerning to some teams as they sounded.

That said, the Bears cannot leave Day 3 of the 2018 NFL Draft today without at least one edge rusher. Yes, if they like two edge guys enough, I say they take two.

Josh Sweat is obviously a guy that everyone will be looking out for, as he’s a freak athlete with every bit of a Pace pick’s profile. Injury concerns have dropped him to Day 3, which puts him in play for the Bears if they think the value outweighs the risk.

And if you want some real intrigue, watch out for the name Ade Aruna.

The Nigerian immigrant and former basketball star is raw, but his athletic profile is absolutely ridiculous (4.6-second 40, 38.5-inch vertical, 4.48 20-yard shuttle).

Teach that kid how to play the position, and that’s highway robbery.

Duke Ejiofor would be another excellent option here as a defensive end/outside linebacker hybrid with ridiculously long arms (almost 35 inches) and solid pass rush ability.
