Chicago Bears: Top 10 draft picks under Ryan Pace
By Ryan Heckman
10. Defensive end Jonathan Bullard
Jonathan Bullard is going to be a guy to watch this upcoming season for the Bears. In his first two seasons, he has flashed the potential as a solid starter, if not at least a rotational guy. His consistency simply hasn’t been strong enough, but that can still change.
As a third round pick, Bullard was a player I was excited about — and still am. He had a very, very good college career at the University of Florida and at only 24 years old, has lots of potential left in him. The knock on Bullard coming out of Florida was his lack of quick-twitch effort along with getting taller as the play went on.
Under Fangio, Bullard has his best opportunity to improve, and I believe he will. Bullard might not be the starter Pace was looking for, but he can be a great rotational piece in the pass rush if he continues to develop.
Year three is the year I will be looking for a major leap, especially if the Bears do not draft someone to compete with Bullard. He is going to have his shot again in 2018, so hopefully he takes full advantage of it.
