Chicago Bears: 5 intriguing draft prospects team has met with
By Ryan Heckman
Brandon Parker, Offensive Tackle, North Carolina A&T
I have highlighted North Carolina A&T offensive tackle Brandon Parker in the past, mainly due to the fact that he’s one of the top offensive line prospects coming out of a smaller school. Pace loves him some small school standouts, as we saw last year when he took three of them.
The Bears met with Parker at both the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine, making it obvious they have strong interest in the 6’7″ monster of a lineman. Parker is an athletically-built tackle who will probably need to put on a little more weight to fill out the enormous frame God blessed him with, but like the aforementioned Haynes, that should be the least of the Bears’ worries.
Like I have talked about with Parker before, one of the interesting factoids here would be his previous experience playing with Tarik Cohen. He is familiar with blocking for the electric playmaker, also coming out of A&T. Giving your team a pairing at running back and tackle who already have a history of chemistry together could be an advantage.
Parker is slated to go in rounds five or six by most of the latest mock drafts, and Pace might end up snagging him to add depth to a line that is in desperate need of just that.
